PUTRAJAYA: Air conditioning cooling systems at government office complexes, shopping malls and community centers around Precinct 1 here have been leaked since yesterday evening after being hit by a hole digging machine.

In the incident at about 6pm, the contractor appointed Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for high capacity cable connecting from Presint 1 to Presint 12, here, is believed to be unaware of the existence of the pipe.

Putrajaya Corporation President (PPJ), Tan Sri Aseh Che Mat, said the disruption is expected to be restored by tomorrow morning.

He said the incident was due to the leakage of air-conditioning supply lines at the Cooling Water Plant, Presint 1 which serves to provide air-conditioning gas to the surrounding area.

"Among the areas are government office complex in Parcel A, B, C, D, E and several surrounding premises, including Alamanda shopping center.

"At this time, overhaul work is ongoing and we hope it can be resolved as soon as possible.

"All affected premises have been informed of the incident and we will try our best to get it back in the near future," he said when met briefly.

Aseh said the government's office was still operating as usual when the air conditioning system was working but less cool.

Among the government departments involved are Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister's Department, Ministry of Health, Public Service Department, Ministry of Home Affairs and Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (JAKIM).
